GOAL
Khalid is a six-time grammy nominated artist with an amazing discography that includes a number of multi-platinum awarded tracks. Khalid's management group "Right Hand Co" reached out to me with the vision of creating a behind-the-scenes video for the filming of his newest music video "Satellite". The goal of this video was to give his fans an exclusive look into how the video was created and also let them see what Khalid is truly like as a person.
Process
This video was filmed over the course of 3 full shoot days on various set locations in Los Angeles. I had full creative control with a vision in mind that we wanted to create a fun, upbeat and lively video that delivered raw exciting moments of Khalid and the various cast/crew members. During the shoot I roamed around set and filmed spontaneous moments, conducted interviews, and directed Khalid and crew members to act out certain scenes that I felt would add comedic effect to the overall video (ex: The Morph Man preparing for his scene in the video).
OUTCOME
The "Satellite" music video was released on September 23, 2022, and to date has gained over 2 million views on YouTube. The BTS video I created was released a few weeks later on his YouTube channel. Working with Khalid and his team was definitely one of the best experiences I have had thus far in my years as a video director and I look forward to pursuing more creative endeavors with him and his team in the near future.
